How to Cancel Your Figma Subscription (Hidden Button Guide for 2026)

Prevention: Go to Admin > Settings > Member permissions and set the default role to "Viewer-restricted". This means no one can get a paid seat without your manual approval.
How to Cancel Your Figma Subscription (Step by Step)
You must be the Team Admin or Owner to do this. If you are not, scroll down to the "I'm Not the Admin" section.
- 1 Open Figma in a browser or desktop app . Do not use the mobile app - the cancel option is not available there.
- 2 From the main dashboard (File Browser), find your team name in the left sidebar. Click Admin next to it.
- 3 On the Admin page, click the Settings tab at the top. Not Billing. Settings.
- 4 Scroll to the Plan section. You will see the Cancel plan button. Click it.
- 5 Select a cancellation reason and click Cancel plan again to confirm. You will keep access until the end of your billing period.
Can't Find the Cancel Button? You Might Not Be the Admin.
This is the second most common reason people get stuck. Only the team Admin or Owner can cancel. If you don't see the Admin option in the sidebar, you don't have the right permissions.
Option 1 - Contact your Admin
Find whoever set up the Figma workspace and ask them to cancel or transfer billing ownership to you. This is the cleanest solution.
Option 2 - Email Figma Support directly
Send an email to support@figma.com from your registered email with subject: "Cancel subscription - unable to access Admin settings." Attach your billing receipts as proof you are the payer. They can manually cancel it.
Option 3 - Bank chargeback (last resort)
If you are being charged for a subscription you cannot access or cancel, contact your bank and dispute the charges as unauthorized. This is a legitimate consumer right and has worked for many Figma users.
Do This BEFORE You Cancel: Save Your Files
After you cancel, Figma downgrades your team to the free Starter plan which only allows 3 Figma files and 3 FigJam files. If you have more than that, the extras become view-only and you lose editing access.
The "Move to Drafts" trick:
- 1. Before cancelling, right-click on each file in your Team Project.
- 2. Select "Move to" and choose your personal Drafts folder.
- 3. Your Drafts folder has unlimited files and is not affected by team plan limits.
- 4. After moving files to Drafts, you can cancel your plan and still edit all your files for free.
